 NFL Campionship-week picks

 January 22, 2010
Anything can happen in sports, especially football. There are injuries, turnovers, missed opportunities, weather and whatever else you can imagine. Well this past week wasn’t all that interesting… unless you’re a Brett Favre or New York Jets fan. Here’s a short recap… On Saturday, I had picked the Cardinals to upset the Saints and I was wrong. Kurt Warner didn’t play all that bad with over 65 percent accuracy and over 200 passing yards but the Cardinal defense has allowed 90 total points in just two playoff games. When a football team allows 45 points per game in the post season, that team’s time is running short… Read more here.

Playoff week-two picks20090110_cob_d82_340.jpg

January 15, 2010
Just for fun this week I decided to lighten up my column and make a few NFL post-season, week-two, predictions. This seemed fitting considering last week’s column about predictions and how they are generally wrong.  Hopefully I will disprove my reasoning from last week with four solid picks for this week’s games. For those of you who aren’t up to date let me catch you up. Last week there were three blowout wildcard games. The Cowboys killed the Eagles with a 34-14 pounding. (I’m a Redskin fan who is sympathetic to the Eagles (and I like Michael Vick) but us Redskins fans are the ones who needs sympathy. I’m not even sure if the Redskins won a game this year, did they?…Read more here.

The Resurrection of Jesus

December 9, 2009
If Jesus Christ truly rose from the dead he first would have lived… The argument of Jesus historically, is one that is very rarely objected to. This means that nearly all scholars agree that the Jesus of Christianity really did live around the time of the 1st millennium and the best most thorough source for information regarding Jesus’ life is in fact the New Testament of the Bible (or more precisely the Gospels within the NT of the Bible– Matthew, Mark, Luke and John). Though many skeptics see the Bible essentially as one book, it is important to keep in mind that the Bible is actually… Read more here.

The real Thanksgiving story

November 20, 2009
We all know the true story of Thanksgiving, right? The Pilgrims arrived in the new land after their sail on the Mayflower from England and all of the religious persecutions. When they arrived in the “new world” they had no clue what to do next; they didn’t know how to hunt or grow corn or even how to stay warm in the harsh winter climate. Thankfully there were great men and women named Indians who were more than willing to help the Pilgrims get on their feet. The Indians began to show the Pilgrims how to do everything they needed in order to survive and in return there was a great feast of thanksgiving for the Indians. Happy Thanksgiving, the end.  Ok, so I admit I am being somewhat overly simplistic here but there truly is a doctrine in our country called revisionism. It is a way to make history a little more politically correct. If we can somehow tweak small parts of history, as long as it doesn’t change the overall meaning, we won’t offend anyone… Read more here.

America similar to Jerusalem,

Jerusalem is one of the oldest cities in the world and would have been of great interest to men like Thomas Jefferson for an important reason; these men were shaping a government that they believed “would never perish from the earth,” therefore they studied nations that were steadfast through the ages. We know that Jefferson conducted in-depth studies about Israel and the Jewish heritage and we also know that he held the teachings of Jesus in the Bible above any other philosophical or theological works. This is of great importance because Jefferson was no rookie when it came to philosophy as he studied men like Plato and Aristotle… Read more here.

Convenient mistakes

Saturday morning I was awakened bright and early to a picture text message from one of my liberal friends. It was a picture of my column last week from the paragraph that said “President Obama’s Imaginational  speech.” She thought that was very funny and wanted to be the first to point out my error. Just like a good liberal friend huh? I am only joking!.. Read more here.

Where does my help come from?

October 30, 2009[thomas_jefferson.jpg]
Over the past 100 years there has been a louder cry than ever before from a small minority of people around the world to write off Christianity as a fairy tale. Since the birth of Darwinian thought it seems that there is either no need for God or there are many different ways to God, at least according to many of those in the spotlight (celebrities, some scientists and many news outlets). Our society is a “have it your way” society and it’s no different religiously. Our nation, founded on the principles of Christian Liberty, is no longer a Christian nation but simply a “nation of citizens” as President Obama stated in his imaginational speech… and sadly, he might not be that far off. Since every nation is obviously a nation of citizens…
